Golden Bale Standard

Extract from the text: Excellence is the foundation stone of Lumb's unequalled reputation; they demand it of themselves and their customers expect it of them. To preserve these standards takes time and only one and a half bales of wool per day are sorted. "This is a craft in itself," explains Brian Exley. Most importantly, Lumb's directors go to the sorting room each day to monitor the sorting, adding their own experience and skill to those of the craftsmen sorters who are ever alert to the style and character which provides the raw material for Lumb's finest yarns. It is during this day-to-day procedure that any bales which are deemed to be exceptionally fine are put on one side for consideration for the Golden Bale Award at the end of the season.
