About The Portraits

In 2008 Northern Legacy CIC was awarded a Kirklees Council 'Arts in the Neighbourhood' grant to photograph ex-workers from the mill.

In November 2008 Northern Legacy invited the workers they had contacted at that time to come back to the mill for the portrait sessions and, if they wished, to bring a visual clue with them to indicate what is their current work or leisure activity.

Twenty-four portraits were taken at the mill and exhibited at Huddersfield Art Gallery in January - March 2009. The original prints have been devolved to Kirklees Image Archive at the Tolson Museum, Huddersfield.

Northern Legacy CIC has donated the portrait images to the Folly Hall Mill Social History project.
